Univ. Prof. Dipl. Ing. Dr. Wilhelm Hoeflinger has studied Mechanical Engineering at the Vienna University of Technology, Austria (TUWien). After working a number of years in industry (engineering department), in 1979 he became a member of the Institute of Chemical Engineering (Vienna University of Technology, TUWien, Institute of Chemical Engineering), where he got his Ph.D.,  became  Professor and  Head of the Mechanical Process Engineering department. Dr. Hoeflinger retired in 2012. He was invited to be visiting Professor at the University of Mining and Technology, Jinan, PR China (1997), at the Ecole des Mines, St. Etienne, France (1998-2004), at the Tamkang University Taipei, Taiwan (2016), and at the Institute of Chemical Technology, University Mumbai, India (2016/17). From 2013- 2018, after his retirement, he was appointed as “High-Level Foreign Professor “ at the Sichuan University Chengdu, PR China. So far, he has about 300 scientific publications, 240 presentations at scientific conferences (author or co-author), and 7 patents in the field of Particle Technology, Solid-liquid-Filtration and Dust/Aerosol Separation. He was also an appointed member of several scientific DECHEMA Processnet expert working committees in Germany and the Austrian delegate of several European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE) working groups. Also, he was appointed as the chairman of the International Delegation of Filtration (INDEFI) from 2008 -2012 and was chairman of the 11th World Filtration Congress (WFC11) in 2012 in Graz, Austria. He was further the organizational and scientific chairman of 5 other international environmental conferences in Vienna. He was awarded the gold medal from the English Filtration Society for the best publication within 1994/95 and received several awards from Germany and Austria for supervising doctor and diploma works. He is a reviewer and editor of several international scientific journals.
